Structural Rebuild of Entire Roof

The Project

The factory had been severely damaged as a fire had ripped through the entire building. We were to secure the fire damaged roof structure and catwalks, install a new roof and roof light system using anti-condensation roof sheets and remove any hazardous material such as asbestos.

Client Problems

On the 4th April 2020, a fire erupted in one of the industrial estates largest building, causing the building to collapse, leaving just the damaged steel frame standing. This was a devastating blow for the industrial estate and its many businesses as the fire had also damaged several other buildings.

On top of the large amount of damage done, the building that the fire had originally erupted in was completely un-operational and unsafe.

Our Solution

Transport Spartan Constructions own scissor-lifts and cherry pickers on site to rebuild structural walls and fixing points. This also included fixing structural wall beams and preparing them for painting. We then accessed the dangerous roof and secured structural beams damaged by the fire to ensure complete safety of the building. After removing damaged parts of the building and hazardous substances, we began by installing steel anti-condensation roof sheets to the newly secured roof structure.

The profile of roof sheet used for this project was: CS32/1000

After the steel cladding and roof lights had been installed and the building was now water tight, it was time to put the structural walls that we had built to good use, by installing sheet metal wall cladding to the affected sides of the building. The building was 220ft long and 60ft high, and an impressive three days later, we had installed the steel wall sheets top and bottom.

Now that the roof and walls had been properly secured and sealed, we were to install a new guttering system across the length of the building. This consisted of a 6.5 inch deep flow commercial guttering system to ensure that proper flow during storms is possible, and prevent water buildup.

Once the gutters had been installed and tested, our work was done. We transported all machines off site and the factory was able to re-open its doors to a brand new roof, roof lights, steel wall cladding and guttering system. A job well done and a close bond with the customer created.
